Hotels in Singapore are aplenty, and it is easy to find accommodations near most of the attractions. There are some that stand above the rest, however.

  1. The Fullerton Hotel Singapore: Located at the base of the Singapore River, marble flooring from Italy, elegant high ceilinged suites and Doric style columns and cornices uphold a reputation of luxury and elegance for travelers. It only steps away from the 1870 Cavenagh Pedestrian Bridge that leads to the renowned Asian Civilizations Museum and is the best place to stay in if you’re visiting Singapore with exploring history in mind. The city’s 1819 origin, which is marked by Raffles Landing, is also within walking distance. The National Gallery, Old and New Parliament buildings and Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall are other must stop destinations nearby.
  2. The Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel: This hotel is an icon of architecture, featuring green octagonal tiles on a pagoda style roof. It is considered the best location within the Orchard Road District is only five minutes walking distance from the Orchard MRT station, and it is neighbors with the Tangs at Tang Plaza retail fashion shop. If you’re in Singapore to shop, this is the best place to stay. All of their prime shopping locations such as Ngee Ann City shopping center, ION Orchard, and Paragon, are within walking distance. To easily access the business district, you’re only four stops away via Singapore’s public transport system.
  3. The Raffles Singapore Hotel: Considered a top-notch luxury if you can afford it, staying in one of the 103 suites that make up this national monument is not to be missed. It is 126 years old and was opened in 1887. The Raffles City Shopping Centre and City Hall MRT are a very short walk away, and although modern construction has taken over what were once beautiful sea views, its location and design are still enviable. If you want to soak up the history that Singapore has to offer without going over budget, this is the hotel for you. This is where much of society’s elite stayed, and the hotel is completely done in an old-world style that speaks to any number of the fables people hear about the exotic East.
  4. The Marina Bay Sands Hotel: This hotel was created by Moshe Safdie, and features suites within a triple-towered and 55 story design. Measuring in at an eight billion Singapore dollar price tag, this stand-alone integrated resort style property is reportedly the most expensive ever built. If you’re in Singapore to go out and do things, this is the hotel to stay at. The famed Gardens by the Bay, Convention Centre, The Shoppes, and the Expo are all directly connected to the hotel by the Bayfront MRT, which is located at the hotel itself. The Orchard Road District is only a fifteen to twenty-minute drive away, while the central business district is only ten minutes away. This hotel features a prime connection point that allows its guests to get to nearly any attraction in just a few minutes.

Finding the best hotel in Singapore to stay at is truly dependent on your reasons for visiting Singapore. There are many hotels in this city-state, but the above are best for those looking for history or to be closer to the shopping and retail options that Singapore has to offer.
